Go Surfing In Durban

Go surfing in Durban
browse (1 / 2)

This sport is a winner for guys and girls, girls get to appreciate the guys, guys get to enjoy the water and show off their masculine skills with much pride and finesse.

About the surf, pretty and good. Actually thats an understatement...gnarly and sick more like it!! The boys wipe their little eyes in disbelief. No its real! The subtropical climate means its warm and suitable for surfing all year round. In the winter temperatures are between 16ºC and 25ºC but during the summer months they can reach 32ºC. The best time for surfing in Durban is when the sou'wester blows.

Now the surfers must plot their map of choice, this [although they will never admit it] is decided by how competent you are in the sea and on your board, being a bit of a daredevil might factor into it too a little. South Beach and Addington are best for beginners, whilst North Beach, Bay of Plenty and Snake Park have perfect breaks for the more experienced surfer. If you have a car and a forgiving petrol allowance then you can travel to the best surfing beaches north of Durban - Balito Bay, Tekweni and Zinkwazi. Although you have to travel a bit further, the breaks are less crowded.

Girls be prepared to hear this kind of commentary all around,'wave is a deathtrap. Shallow in knee deep water that results in a short intense barrel ride before you need to kick out real fast at the end section or become better acquainted with the reef. I got the sickest barrel there with my heart jumping to my throat.' And then be thankful I warned you.

Enjoy!
