Enjoy the sunshine and warm water of the Kwazulu-Natal Coast! Located within the St Lucia Marine Reserve and situated north east of St Lucia is Cape Vidal, a delightful little bay that supports a whole host of accommodation, including cabins and campsites, as well as numerous other facilities to be enjoyed.

Cape Vidal offers 29 fully equipped log cabins, of which 18 are five-bedded and 11 eight-bedded. These enormous cabins have 2 and 3 bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, a modern operational kitchen, as well as a cosy lounge. If you and your fishing pals have stumbled upon the area… that’s great, since for fishing parties, one may hire multi-bed cabins (sleeping 8 - 20) on the shoreline of Lake Bhangazi. Ski-boating, deep-sea fishing, spear fishing, snorkeling…. Cape Vidal has it all. The bay is particularly suited to snorkeling, as it is sheltered and safe during most of the day. Here you will also find the Dorothea shipwreck, a prominent 19th century barque which was lost in stormy weather in 1898. It’s being said that Dorothea was carrying gold from the Transvaal, but this all is still a mystery, since the Dorothea has yet to be found. No wonder snorkellers from across the world prospect the area for some shipwrecked gold.

With all the action and excitement with the activities in the area, it would be hard to think of more things to do at Cape Vidal. Well, Cape Vidal has the best of both worlds. One has entrance to the eastern shores of Lake St Lucia where you’ll find a variety of game (reedbuck, antelope, hippos, crocodiles and buffalo), and a dazzling marine life to observe and watch closely.
