See Dolphins Up Close

See dolphins up close
browse (1 / 4)

There is nothing more awe striking and splendorous than seeing a school of dolphins up close, whether it be at the UShaka Marine Park, or along the Dolphin Coast. The Dolphin coastline stretches from the Umdloti River to the Tugela, and is called the Dolphin Coast due to the large numbers of Indian Ocean bottlenose dolphins that make their appearance here all year round.

You can also see the larger humpback dolphins at this coastal shore, but they are rarely seen due to these dolphins’ extreme shyness. Common dolphins are found quite often in the area, particularly as they follow the sardine run northwards in the winter. Of course, all these dolphins are extremely playful, and regularly swim alongside humans and boats, giving you a close up view of these magnificent creatures. To get another distinct look at these delicate species, make a trip to the UShaka Marine World and see dolphins from a totally different perspective. Located inside the uShaka Marine World is the salt water aquarium that has both indoor and outdoor displays and exhibitions of dolphins, and also the occasional killer whale. The 1200 seater dolphin stadium is only the tip of the iceberg for such viewing, as there’s also a seal stadium, penguin rookery and a whole lot more.

The dolphins at UShaka are a main attraction, and delight visitors from all ages and backgrounds. So if you decide to roam along the Dolphin Coast in search for dolphins in their natural mileu, or the high-flying dolphins at the UShaka Marina, you’ll leave smiling and appreciating these magnificent creatures all day long.
