Coedmore Castle is situated in the Stainbank Nature Reserve. Mrs Elizabeth Keith, granddaughter of the founder of 'Coedmore Castle', will show you around this magnificent home, which was also the home of the important sculptor, MARY STAINBANK and Robert Brusse will talk to you about its architecture.
The site on the south bank of the Umhlatuzana River is rich in history, being known as the Ndaba Nkulu during the reign of King Chaka. Dering Stainbank commissioned two Scottish stonemasons to build the 'castle in 1882.
Bring yourselves, friends, family, tea and the proverbial sticky buns, which you can enjoy in the garden where you may even see the friendly zebras. Tucked away in the heart of Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve is Coedmore - a gracious old family home built in 1885, over 120 years ago.
