Giant's Castle Reviews

The surrounding and setting of Giant's Castle is beautiful and the staff at the front desk are very pleasant and helpful. Our room was very cozy and comfortable. However, the service at the restaurant was not acceptable. The gentleman that served us seemed to be a little intoxicated. He was very evasive about the menu and whilst we were eating our dinner he spent most of his time busy with personal telephone calls behind the desk. When we left the next morning the same man in question was in a vehicle with other staff members and it seemed that they had all been drinking alcohol. This was at 9:30am in the morning. When the door of the vehicle was opened to let a staff member in you could hear the empty bottles being kicked around inside the vehicle.

One of the most beautiful hikes i have been on.The trails were well laid out and in tricky places, secured.Our fitness level are not good,but because the trails where well maintained, we managed. Our 11year old enjoyed the first two days ,but then wanted to do other activities.

Overall fantastic. According to my view a few things should receive attention.
1. The road indications is not allways very clear - on the walkway to the caves there is no indication fot the turnoff to rock 75.
- The wooden walkways over streams are not all in a good condition ie some crosslayers were broken ore absent.
2. More attentiom should be given to the cutting of the grass at the hide. My day was ruined because of long gras obscuring the rocks on far side where most of the activities take place. The manager was on leave and his assistant did not attend to the gras. I was given another day to compensate but it was raining and did not make up for a perfect day that I have lost.
I want to thank the manager for the professional way he handled the problem although he was still on leave.
You got a fantastic place and I want to thank you for two great weeks.

From the time that we made the booking right up to departure, we only got the very best service. Absolutely everyone has been so pleasant and helpfull. We had an absolute ball and will definately go back. The resort was clean, safe and just great. We were even treated with a show from the locals.

Just a quick note to thank you for a wonderful weekend. From my initial contact with reservations to a friendly, welcoming arrival at Giant's Castle we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. the place was very nice neat and tidy,the mountain view is out of this world.if they can improve on the tuck shop then everything will be exceptional but overall i was very impressed and will recommend to my friend and family to go to giant castle.

Giant's castle is set in an amzing location with excellent accomodation. Perfect for hiking and to get a true country/mountain feel.
The only let down was the staff in the restaurant - not overally helpful and served cold food, which was a shame as it kind of took away the beauty of the visit

It was awesome. No problems. Were we supposed to get a map with info about the walks - that would have been useful.

What a wonderful place! Coming from Johannesburg over a long weekend, I kept thinking this is too far to come for such a short time. I recommend you sleep somewhere on the way (don't drive the final stretch at night). But WOW! the most amazing Bushman paintings I have ever seen, beautiful long walks, short walks, vulture's restaurant and I am sure in summer a great place to swim.
