Situated 95km from Durban and 65km from Pietermaritzburg, the Mkomazi River provides a challenging yet pristine environment for both the first timers and the seasoned veterans. This river boasts some of the best rapids to be found in South Africa, with a section being regarded as the biggest traversable White Water south of the Zambezi. The trips begin at our base of operations in Richmond, KwaZulu-Natal. From Richmond we transfer down to the river where clients are briefed and equipped with lifejackets and helmets. After the briefing we get a chance to practise our skills on the river before beginning the trip. The duration of which can vary depending on the level of the river and the experience of the participants.

It is important to stipulate the age of the participants when booking as this can affect the section of the river that is run. The full day and epic events include lunch; breakfasts and after rafting braai’s can be arranged for any of the rides at an additional cost.

White Water Rafting season is open from November to May, depending on the level of the river.
