The Pearls of Umhlanga is certainly one of the most exquisite destinations in South Africa.
The luxury, convenience and views are unsurpassed. It's a truly special place to be for the entire family

Although both the appartment and location were fantastic, the most basic and surprising omission was a room safe. We had to carry all our valuables with us at all times.
When we arrived at the Pearls, a security guard took us to our appartment which was great, but we later found out that we couldn't find our way around the complex and especially couldn't find our way out to the street or beach. The beach elevatator had apparently been out of order for a month - surely it should have been repaired more promptly than that? Having to access the apartments via the carpark and having to use the carport doors to get in and out is bizarre, confusing (as there are no signs) and feels unsafe. We had to return to the security gate to get directions around the complex. Although the complex is protected, it did not feel safe in the carparks, which is a potential problem for female visitors.
Having said all of that, we had a great time and would certainly recommend it to others, but would feel obliged to point out the issues raised above.

Beautiful, luxurious apartment. Had everything we needed in an apartment – home away from home! The noise from construction of the 2nd building, however, impacted negatively on our holiday experience. With construction workers having a view into the apartment, one felt “watched” and the constant hammering and working with power tools(angle grinders). I was amazed that work continued even during the weekend. Just felt the security was impacting on freedom of movement for the family. I suggest that 2 access cards be given per family, as either the whole family had to go out or if we went in different directions the one had to wait for the other to go in / out of the property.Maybe a hairdryer in the apartment?

Bruce and I had a wonderful stay at The Pearls, Umhlanga for the July weekend. Just to say that we found the accommodation most comfortable. The the ladies that serviced the apartment on a daily basis most helpful and willing. It was a very special time and would love to use your accommodation one day in the near future.
