"We stayed at Cormoran number 11 over the December period 2011. This is the mail that I sent to the letting agent which explains the condition of this place: I understand that this is a very difficult time for you, but I need to put this down on paper to ensure that you understand the extent of my dissatisfaction. The fact that I am spending time doing this is not something that I envisioned for a December holiday, an occasion that we all work very hard for! I am quite comfortable spending R3000 per day for accommodation, but I expect to receive value for money ? this abode does not qualify in any way at all. Let?s start with the beach frontage ? there are two palm trees with a speck of blue in between ? my fascination to discover that the blue is in fact the sea. The use of ?partial sea view? is a total misrepresentation! The veranda ? cheap! furniture haphazardly scattered in absolute no order ? clearly no effort has been put into offering a welcoming area. Absolutely no resemblance to the photos you have on the website! As for the living room ? please check the website photos with the reality!!! Total misrepresentation!! So, there are two white ?leather? couches but what is missing from the photo are the scratches, cuts, age and dirt! Let?s look at the rest: o No plug for basin ? we had to buy one! o No eggbeater/whisk ? we had to buy one! o Mismatched and extreme poor quality drinking glasses o Mismatched cutlery o Stove top in bad condition ? it is old and packed with very old grime ? DIRTY! o Washing machine with no door and no knobs ? does not operate ? specification is a working washing machine ? rather take the machine out than present it as a feature! o No dishwasher ? this is not a specification, but the servicing of the unit specifies no washing of dishes ? I don?t do dishes at home, why would I do it on holiday and pay R3000 every day for the privilege? The cleaning lady came into the unit to sweep 3 days - we were there for 9 days o Only 1 TV ? specification is two o TV cables are haphazardly thrown behind TV ? very unsafe mess o Dining room table cannot effectively/fully be used as for unsafe electrical wiring from the TV ? one chair in the middle of the electrical wiring mess o Door knobs falling off cupboards o Cupboard doors do not all close o Mismatched cupboards ? clearly replaced with the cheapest available! o Cannot hang towel behind spare bathroom door ? the hook falls off ? cheap once again! o Then the best: hangers are rusted wire and a selection of those one takes from shops ? an absolute disgrace! o Pillows of extremely poor condition ? one needs to stack 5 to have the comfort of one! o NO TOP SHEETS ON ANY OF THE BEDS! I am very offended that someone would think that others are so ignorant and inexperienced to consider this dwelling a R3000 per day deal. We are in Umhlanga every second year and this is the worst we have ever encountered. We had to make a late arrangement (October) this year and did not have many options, but this does not mean that I (or anybody else) should accept such low standards! This is an environment filled with rubbish that one does not want in your house any more ? shove it into the ?holiday home? ? we have all been there, but one does not assume that someone else would be prepared to pay R3000 per day for the rubbish from your house! The real thing that describes the quality of this place is the one toilet roll and miniature bar of soap provided ?at arrival?. What an insult ? the quality of the toilet paper is shocking (actually transparent) and the smallest possible bar of soap. May I please suggest that you do not offer soap or toilet paper at all ? to insult a guest with this is beyond thought! It was dissappointing (to say the least) that the letting agent was apparently not informed of the quality and condition of this place. Or maybe she was, which makes the situation even worse. An absolute never return option!"
