Banchory Lodge

If you're looking for a luxury country getaway with exceptional fishing, private accommodation and a farm atmosphere, Banchory Lodge in Swartberg is your destination.

Banchory Lodge is perched on the top of a hill with magnificent views of the mountains of the Southern Drakensberg from almost every room. The house is about 67 kilometres from Underberg going towards Kokstad in the Swartberg district of East Griqualand. It is situated off the tar road with 7 km of well maintained dirt road and then 3 km of farm road suitable for most cars if taken gently.

Banchory Lodge offers accommodation in 3 double bedrooms and a children's room which sleeps 4. There is one en suite bathroom and a second bathroom with shower and a separate toilet. The house at Banchory Lodge is fully equipped with bed-linen and bathroom towels. The extensive kitchen has a microwave and double ovens, a large fridge with freezer, three sinks, crockery, cutlery and utensils. A maid is available to clean, make beds, and do some cooking. In short, a stay at Banchory Lodge will be living in a bed of luxury!

The farm has two large dams for fly-fishing with recorded catches of 11lb 9oz in the one and 10lb 2oz in the other. There are also smaller dams for bass fishing as well as many dams and streams in the Swartberg area where alternative fishing may be organized.

We, your hosts, will also take you on trips to our Berg farm on the Lesotho border or a hike around this area, weather permitting. We would appreciate advance notice for this. The farm and surrounding area is an excellent venue for mountain biking and horse riding (at own risk). Occasionally, we enjoy a good snowfall in winter to add to the fun!
