Makakatana Bay Lodge

The gracious Makakatana Bay Lodge was named Makatana which happened to be the name of a Zulu Chief who lived in the area many years ago. The Greater St Lucia Wetland Park is a paradise and much cherished by Hugh and Leigh-Ann Morrison who are the very proud owners of the Makakatana Bay Lodge.

The Makakatana Bay Lodge boasts gorgeously decorated rooms, with warm colors, dark wooden flooring and stunning mosquito nets draped around the bed, giving it a true romantic feel. The rooms are very spacious with the doors opening onto a lovely wooden patio, where you can relax and enjoy a sundowner or two. These spectacular units also offer air-conditioning, telephones, a coffee/tea tray, an outdoor shower, service bar fridge, dressing room and insect proof screen doors.

Makakatana Bay Lodge gives you the feel of being out in the wild, yet having all the comforts your home with you. There is a lovely wooden bar in the lodge where you can enjoy a refreshment with a couple of friends or family members, while discussing the fantastic day you had. The lovely sparkling pool is surrounded by a wooden deck and offers a spectacular view of the wild.

Within the mysterious deep blue ocean you will find the most amazing sealife going about their daily routines. The hippos offer plenty of entertainment with their enormous mouths and lovely natures, as for the crocodiles, well you will definitely be amazed at these incredible creatures. There are great horse rides, airflips for the brave, turtle tours, fly fishing, deep sea fishing for the adventurous, whale watching, boat trips and must do game drives.
