On the Western Shores of the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, lies the splendid World Heritage Site, False Bay Park. Many good illustrations of the intriguing marine and coral fossils that are still found scattered throughout the area can be viewed at the reception office.
There is a large variety of varied habitats embraced by this small yet distinctive reserve such as sand forest, thornveld and open savannah. False Bay Park offers a unique diversity of outstanding bird watching and game viewing opportunities.
For those who take pleasure in self-guided walking trails, 2 trails have been established to allow visitors to enjoy the full benefit of this unique African Jewel.
Swimming in the lake is prohibited due to high concentrations of crocodile's, however, boating and fishing are still very popular. False Bay Park has a lovely viewing platform on the lake side near the Dugandlovu Camp, this platform orders a stunning view of the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, particularly at sunset. The perfect place to enjoy sundowners with good company whilst reflecting on the day's events.
Dugandlovu Rustic Camp accommodation consists of 4 x four-bed huts. Each hut comprises of the basic necessities including basic kitchen facilities such as a deep freeze, cold water showers which are rather pleasurable in the hot temperatures most of the time, firewood and paraffin lamps.
Bedding is not supplied so please bring your own. Dugandlovu Rustic Camp also has a number of campsites situated across the lake boasting panoramic views of the land and water scape.
