Sodwana Bay is world renowned for its sport fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling, Sodwana Bay is located on the coast within the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park a world Heritage Site. Sodwana Bay has many great coral reefs with a subtropical temperate climate. It has distinguished itself as one of the premier sport diving destinations in Africa. The reefs are reached from the launching area of Jesser Point, and are done by taking a rubber duck through the surf. Divers help to push the boat into the shallows, then hold tight as the skipper steers the duck through the surf. Sodwana can be reached by car, a 4x4 is recommended for driving around the surrounding areas, petrol is available from the petrol station in the National Park, and there is a small supermarket which can provide you with essentials.

Maputoland and the St Lucia Marine Reserve are linked to each other and form a continuous protected area stretching 150 km from the border of Mozambique southwards to Cape Vidal and about 3 nautical miles out to sea. A 5km self-guided walking trail for nature lovers and birders leads you around coastal forests and dunes in a area that is rich in cultural history. Try surfing or take a day trips to lake Sibaya or Mabibi, you're sure to find something that appeals to you, your friends. There are many popular dive sites with a large variety of marine flora and fauna, table and plate corals, beautiful overhangs, drop-offs and mushroom rocks. There are a couple of restaurants both within and outside of the Park, as well as a local night club. Scuba equipment is available for hire, Sodwana offers a large variety of accommodation, self catering chalets and luxury holiday houses.

Summer brings loggerhead and leather back turtles to nest on the beaches of Sodwana.. Malaria precautions should be considered. Sodwana is also within driving distance of a number of amazing game reserves including, Phinda, Mkhuze and the Hluhluwe Mfolozi Nature Park. Tembe Elephant Game Park is also within easy reach.
