Crafters Lodge

Zululand Crafters Lodge is set on the tropical Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal East Coast and built into the eastern side of the Coastal Forest dune in the newly designated development area of Sodwana Bay 7 minutes from the access-controlled World Heritage Site Sodwana Bay. Designed for privacy and comfort, this small secure complex offers investors simple luxury with minimal environmental impact. Within an 80 km radius of the Lodge are the Tembe Elephant Park Mkuzi Game Reserve and Bird Sanctuary Hluhluwe Game Reserve Phinda Private Game Reserve and Ndumu Game Reserve, a bird watchers paradise.

For the energetic there are quad bike routes through the pine plantations, kite surfing, wind surfing, microlite flights, snorkelling, beach rides and boogie boarding, turtle tours and horse riding. For non-divers there are extensive swimming beaches, turtle tours, unique art and craft shops, Tambotie coffee shop, Leatherbacks Restaurant and rustic bush cafes and ethnic bars.

The architectural language at Zululand Crafters Lodge is ideally suited to the climate, with a large deck, expansive windows and untouched natural bush. Furnishing is simple, incorporating items made locally in rural poverty relief projects. A exterior colour palette of rich earth tones unites the chalets with the African soil.

The minimum that the chalets offer is 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and an out door rustic shower, hanging and washing facilities for dive gear, controlled speed fans throughout, open plan lounge/dining room/kitchen, wooden balustraded deck with Webber braai, comfortable outdoor hardwood furniture and charming local craft contributions in the form of curtains, place mats, floor mats, waste-paper baskets, bedside tables, kiddies chairs and occasional tables.
