Discover Scuba Diving
Diving is a sport that holds a lot of mystery for many people and this often stops them from even contemplating it as something for them. Here at Blue Vision Dive Centre we want to dispel some of these preconceptions and offer a range of courses suitable for those who want to learn a little more about whether SCUBA is for them.
This is the world's most popular introductory course and requires nothing from you other than a sense of adventure and willingness to try something new. This is not a qualifying course but an experience that can offer insight into the world of SCUBA diving.
It includes:
- A theory session on the basics of dive safety;
- A pool session to learn simple skills and get used to the equipment;
- A dive on Aliwal Shoal to truly experience the underwater world;
- Full dive equipment.
Schedule:
Approximately 2 hours theory and pool, and 3 hours for the actual dive; as our dives are scheduled for the mornings we usually offer the theory and pool one afternoon with the dive the next day.
A Discover Scuba Dive can be credited towards your Open Water Course, if you find after this experience you want to continue your SCUBA training, subject to centre discretion.
Open Water
Ok so you want to see what's under the sea? Well this is the ideal point to start the adventure that could change your life. The PADI Open Water course allows someone with no dive experience to gain the relevant skills to competently start exploring the underwater world. From the basic theory behind diving and important safety measures to practical skills and finally actually getting out there and seeing what's beneath those waves.
We are lucky enough to be able to offer ALL your 4 qualifying dives out in the big blue and not in inland quarries. With our newly appointed classroom and dedicated staff we can also offer learning facilities which allow you as the student to work at your own pace and to add even more flexibility, with PADI e-learning you can do the theory section in your own time over the internet and come to Blue Vision Dive Centre for the practical sections of the course!
It includes:
- PADI teaching materials including the Recreational Dive Planner;
- Log Book;
- PADI registration fees;
- 5 theory sessions, which is a combination of independent learning as well as instructor led training;
- 5 confined water sessions to learn a series of practical and safe diving skills including some fun as well;
- 4 open water dives; and
- Full dive equipment for the duration of the course.
Schedule:
4 days, although schedules can be flexible to suit your own personal needs.
Advanced Open Water
So you are qualified diver but want to know if there is more out there and the PADI Advanced Open Water course can do exactly that. The course is based around 5 practical dives each with a specific motivation and set of tasks, and unlike PADI Open Water theory is very much the smaller part of the course.
What also stands this course out from other advanced diving courses is that you get to choose what you specialise in. There is a wide choice of dives that you can choose to specialise in from improving practical dive skills on a Peak Performance Buoyancy Dive or Drift Dive to learning more about your environment on the AWARE - Fish Identification Dive and even exploring new types of underwater world with the Wreck Dive.
To qualify for the Advanced Open Water qualification you have to undertake one practical skills dive in the form of Navigation and one new environment dive by undertaking a Deep Dive to 30m, but the other 3 dives are up to you and here we can teach:
- AWARE - Fish Identification
- Boat Diving
- Drift Diving
- Multilevel/Computer Diving
- Peak Performance Boyancy
- Search and Recovery
- Underwater Nature Study
- Underwater Photography
- Wreck Diving
It includes:
- PADI teaching materials;
- PADI registration fees;
- 5 open water dives with knowledge reviews and indepth briefings and de-briefings; and
- SCUBA equipment (soft equipment not included).
Schedule:
3 days, although schedules can be flexible to suit your own personal needs. If you do not have the time to spend on training and diving; why not do your theory online through PADI e-learning and come finish the practical diving on the great Aliwal Shoal?!
