What we offer
The annual migration of sardines (Sardinops sagax) which starts at the Agulhas Banks off the Southern most tip of Africa is the single biggest faunal event to occur in our coastal waters annually. The range extension afforded by the colder water brings with it, not only the sardines, but also sharks, whales, dolphins, seals and a wealth of bird life.
This moving fish restaurant and ensuing feeding frenzy is a sight to behold and certainly one of the wildest spectacles to occur anywhere on the planet. To experience this spectacular event we have tailormade various packages to suit your needs.
PACKAGES BASED IN MKAMBATI
There are various options with our operators. There are 3 boats dedicated to divers, one boat dedicated to bird watching and two boats for whale and dolphin spotting. On each of the bird and whale boats, in addition to the skipper, there will be a marine or birding expert to make the package more exciting for the guests.
The packages will be based at Mkambati in the Transkei (maps and directions from Port Edward will be provided).
Mkambati will be the southern base of operation and offers a beautiful setting, on the top of the Msikaba Gorge in the Mkambati Game Reserve, and rustic accommodation. The venue offers exciting game walks and nature trails.

The expedition is a boat-based adventure for scuba divers, snorkels, non-divers, photographers, nature lovers, bird watchers and dolphin and whale enthusiasts. To be in the middle of this incredible phenomenon where predator and prey fight for their existence, sometimes from horizon to horizon, leaves us feeling small and inadequate in the face of natures hugeness and ferocity.
Participants will be met by our team at the Durban airport or Umtata airport and transferred to Cremone Estates in Port Saint Johns. Cremorne is on the banks of the Umzimvubu River with mount Sullivan behind and the scenic cliffs of Mount Thesiger on the opposite bank.
