The Vernon Crookes Nature Reserve is perfectly situated approximately 80 km south of Durban. The reserve is located just inland of Umzinto and the picturesque town of Scottburgh.
The delightful nature reserve is a natural treasure that offers guests exceptional coastal views. The gorgeous Vernon Crookes Nature reserve is notorious for its bio-diversity and is thickly surrounded by wooded slopes providing outstanding scenes of the ocean. The striking grassland ridges create a sublime backdrop.
Remarkably this miniature coastal reserve features more than 56 recorded mammal species. The wildlife in the vicinity of the reserve includes zebra, blue wildebeest, reedbuck, blue duiker, four mongoose species and porcupine.
Families are truly in for an exhilarating treat when visiting this beautiful resort. Guests have amazing viewing opportunities and can indulge in many self-guided trails offered at the reserve. An extremely peaceful and tranquil atmosphere is created and bird lovers will be handsomely rewarded when given the opportunity of viewing more than 300 bird species that have been sighted in the vicinity of the nature reserve.
Accommodation at Vernon Crookes Camp consists of:
1x 20 bed rustic tree house. The tree house is fully equipped with essentials such as a fully equipped kitchen, lounge/dining facility and a communal bathroom feature. Guests are advised to carry along their own bedding and towels. Five fully equipped 2-bed rondavels at Vernon Crookes Camp are also available; these rondavels are nestled into the extravagant hillside, creating a serene environment. Also on offer is a communal, fully attired kitchen, ablution feature and lounge. Satellite television sets are available in the lounge for the convenience of guests.
Vernon Cookes Camp is idyllic for study groups. A spacious lounge creates a peaceful conference center.
