Remarkably this miniature coastal reserve features more than 56 recorded mammal species. The wildlife in the vicinity of the reserve includes zebra, blue wildebeest, reedbuck, blue duiker, four mongoose species and porcupine.

Five fully equipped 2-bed rondavels at Vernon Crookes Camp are also available; these rondavels are nestled into the extravagant hillside, creating a serene environment. Also on offer is a communal, fully attired kitchen, ablution feature and lounge. Satellite television sets are available in the lounge for the convenience of guests.
