we were off to Royal Natal and on the way i realised i packed the filter coffee and forgot the plunger! to my amazement they even though of that!! Royal Natal really focusses on the finer detail making the holiday experience a real break away from home! Not to mention the beauty of the surroundings!

Great holiday-thanks

We had the most wonderful two days at Thabile. Wish we could have stayed longer. Everything was just perfect! We booked through Accommodation Direct and they were most efficient, polite and helpful.
Thabile is a little piece of heaven on earth. Our chalet was clean and had everything we needed. The view from there was quite spectacular. The gardens were beautifully maintained. We went on a hike and it was great to see no litter scattered around. We must congratulate the staff at Thabile for doing a wonderful job. We give them the thumbs up and just wish we could say that about other Parks Board places. We cant wait to return.

Accommodation was satisfactorily.
The general reception and shopping facilities cannot be compared with for eg. Giant's Castle. The shop is extremely basic and there is no restaurant facilities at all. Not much is done for the tourist who does not hike all the time.

We had an awesome stay.

I have been a frequent visitor to the Northern Berg over the past few years, including to Royal Natal, but I have never stayed at Thendele. I regret that I hadn't sooner! From making my booking to the time we checked out, all invovled were friendly and extremely helpful. The Accommodation and services provided were exceptional, and I am already planning my next stay!

Thendele is located in an unbelievably beautiful part of the Drakensberg.

Our chalet was comfortable with all of the quirks that come with Parks Board accommodation. The view from the balcony more than made up for the lack of braai tongs and design flaws.

Fantastic hikes are available in the area especially the one from the Sentinel Car Park to the top of the Amphitheatre / Tugela Falls, the Gorge walk and the walk up via the Crack to Witsieshoek and down via Mahai Falls.

Fly fishing in the dam for trout was also great fun and it seems to be stocked with plenty of fish.

The drive along the R74, Oliviershoek Pass, is horrendous. The road was in a dismal state with only one lane open and that lane had hundreds of potholes so you couldn't manage much more than 40km/h. You need to be very careful as there are some idiot drivers out there and the potholes don't make it any easier.

Overall a fantastic time.

Wonderful location with excellent views. The chalet was fully equipped for our needs. We stayed at the lower level and walked up to the upper level and the views were pretty much the same. The walk to Tiger Falls from the camp was really easy to do as it did not involve any major climb unlike the paths from the main visitor area. Similarly for the walk to Devil's Hoek. Will certainly stay there again. One point to note is that coverage for MTN is zero at the camp and not much better around the park in general. Vodacom seemed better (I carry two mobiles for just such a reason!)

Wonderful stay here, the view of the amphitheatre is spectacular and the walks are fantastic. Mind the babboons, though!

Staff friendly and courteous. Accommodation comfortable and clean. Service good. Chalet could do with a bit of repair work. Sliding door damaged and wooden window frames need maintenance.

Hi, We spent 4 nights in a chalet at Thendele in Royal Natal National Park. The chalets were well equipped and were spotlessly clean. Hiking route was well marked and the staff very friendly.

Had a wonderful stay. Great area with suitable accommodation. Possibly more information on the trails etc would be nice. (ie. Didnt know the Falls where frozen)
