Situated on the banks of the Phongolo and Usutu rivers, Ndumo Game Reserve is home to some 430 species of birdlife including a magnificent range of aquatic and East African tropical forms at the Southernmost limit of their range. Pell's fishing owl, the broadbill, and southern-banded snake eagle can all be seen here. In addition to the vast birdlife, Ndumo Game Reserve hosts a variety of game species such as bushbuck, impala, black and white rhino, hippopotamus, crocodiles, and many others.
Comfortably nestled into the tropical landscape, lies the Ndumo Camp, which boasts breathtaking views across the Phongolo River.
Accommodation at Ndumo Camp consists of:
Seven twin-bed chalets, which are each equipped with air-conditioning units, a refrigerator, a cold water hand basin and a front veranda. Cutlery, crockery and bedding are provided.
Adjacent to the hutted camp are eight rustic campsites, accommodating a maximum of 48 people. These campsites cater for both tents and caravans. Modern ablution blocks have hot and cold running water, baths, showers, flush toilets and basins. Firewood, charcoal, and basic provisions can be purchased from a shop within the camp. There is also a well-equipped communal kitchen and dining area available to all guests. Delicious meals are prepared by a camp cook using food provided by the guests.
Guided vehicle safaris to exclusive areas within Ndumo Game Reserve are available to visitors, as are guided day walks and specialist bird walks for the more energetic. After an eventful day in this serene reserve, guests can cool down in Ndumo Camp’s sparkling swimming pool.
