Kosi Moon Bed & Breakfast Bush House

Kosi Moon Bed and Breakfast Bush House and chalet offers accommodation on a fully catered, semi-catered and self-catering basis. We are located in Kosi Bay, Maputaland on the Elephant Coast in Northern KwaZulu Natal South Africa.

The main house is situated in thick bush overlooking the sand forest and largest lake in the Kosi Bay Nature Reserve 4-lake system. Our aim is to provide our guests with a comfortable, friendly environment that will enhance their beach and bush experience.

Located in one of the most remote areas of South Africa, the Kosi Bay area allows the discerning, nature conscious guest access to vast areas of un spoilt bush. In addition the stunning undeveloped beaches, lakes and cultural heritage only add to the mystique and beauty of this area.

The Kosi system comprises a four lake estuary system that runs parallel with the ocean. Salinity ranges from a fresh water lake, where the largest indigenous forest of raffia palms occur, to the warm, clear Indian Ocean 12 Km away.

The lake system is surrounded by coastal sand forest offering some of the most beautiful and tranquil walks imaginable. The local beaches in the area stretch from Kosi Mouth (where the estuary system exits to the Indian Ocean), to Lala Nek and southward to Mabibi. With the absence of any commercial development these beaches will astound any visitor with their pure natural beauty and warm tropical waters.

Sights include Kosi Mouth where you can view the traditional fish traps, Black Rock, Bhanga Nek Rocktail Bay, Lala Nek, Raffia Forest, The Kosi Lake System, Tembe Elephant Park (Big5), Ndumo Game Park and not to mention Ponta D Ouro just across the border in Mozambique. If this does not excite you the open expanses of Natal Bush and 4x4 access will certainly add to the experience.

This is the area where the Palm Nut Vulture resides side by side with the Giant Raffia Palm. Sightings of these Vultures are made regularly. Many other interesting birds like the Purple Crested Turaco, Trumpeter Hornbills adorn the trees while the cries of the African Fish Eagle fill the air.
