Rhino River Lodge

At Rhino River Lodge, the theatre of nature comes to life in vivid, startling colours. Listen to the leopard as he prowls his territory at night; watch as rhinos and elephants collide; watch, awe-stricken as the reclusive black rhino crunches its way through breakfast; see the many forms of antelope that haunt the African bush; or see the elephants blazoning their way through the African bush with utmost power. Rhino River Lodge is located in Zululand, 30 kilometres north of Hluhluwe and in the shadow of the majestic Lebombo mountains. Superb accommodation and exemplary service await you.

Delightful log cabins await you. Constructed solely from locally sourced materials, each cabin accommodates five guests. Expect iron-stone tiling in these spacious, well conditioned living spaces. In addition to these stunning log cabins, find four luxury en suite double or twin rooms, with coffee and tea making facilities, bar fridge, and your own private verandah that overlooks the Umsunduze River. In each accommodation type, find linen, towels, tea and coffee making facilities and a mini bar.

Join your family or friends for a well-deserved sundowner on the raised deck at the lounge, dining and bar area, and sink into the sombre, reflective twilight as the sun melts on the horizon, looking out over the forest of Fever trees and the river below. Find yourself next to a roaring fire in the boma, avidly sharing stories of the African bush with superb company. Rhino River Lodge also offers conference facilities. Refresh yourself: enjoy a lovely swim in the sparkling, crystal clear pool. Watch the warthog family mosey on the laws of the lodge, or see the timid red duiker make its way over the laws.

Rhino River Lodge is a private reserve within the greater Zululand Rhino Reserve. The rare and endangered black rhino is found in this park; a rare privilege for guests to see. 20 black rhinos have been relocated into the park, and their numbers have now swelled to 30, providing for excellent game viewing opportunities. Exciting game drives take you through the enchanting bush. Take the opportunity to look for leopard, elephant, rhino, and many other animals. Sundowners at strategic spots offer you the best views. Enjoy exciting bush walks with guides. For bird enthusiasts, expect to see rare African species such as the Bateleur, Martial Eagle, Pinkthroated Twinspot, Paradise Wydah, Yellow Spotted Nicatar, Rudd's Apalis and the Crested Guinea fowl.
