Visiting DumaZulu Lodge is a unique experience. The Dumazulu Lodge is in Kwazulu-Natal on the main tourist route between The Kruger National Park and Durban. Situated near Hluhluwe, alongside a truly authentic traditional Zulu village you will have the benefit of a genuine African adventure.
This distinctive accommodation consists of twenty-three units sleeping 2-4 persons, all representing the different Southern African tribes. The Lodge is arranged in two circular formations in traditional African style. The rooms are all stylishly decorated in ethnic fabrics and tribal memorabilia. The restaurant offers daily European and customary Zulu meals.
The Lodge is connected to the Zulu Village by means of wooden walkways. This traditional village is home to over 50 Zulu people and is the largest Zulu village of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. The village has the Zulu royal stamp of approval, as the only tourist Zulu village that has been opened by King Goodwill Zwelithini.
The Dumazulu Village – meaning “Thundering Zulu” is an extraordinary cultural experience. Guests can watch and learn about basket-weaving, spear and shield making, pot making and even Sangoma (witchdoctor) bone-throwing. The Zulu dancing is a sight to behold, with beating drums and harmonious voices. Guests can even spend the night in a traditional “hut” so they can gain insight into the life of the Zulu tribe.
Dumazulu Lodge is ideally situated for game-viewing in the many Game Reserves nearby. The Lodge also boasts its own Snake Park and Crocodile Park and the wonderful Curio Shop offers bits of Zululand to take home with you.
