Ripon Country Cottage, which was the original homestead, has been renovated and provides accommodation for up to ten guests. There are three bedrooms, which each sleep two and four beds on the sun porch. The kitchen is fully-equipped and all linen and towels are provided. Wood for the lounge Jetmaster fireplace and outside barbecue is supplied free of charge. Ripon Country Cottage is fully serviced twice daily.
Ripon Country Cottage is ideally situated for 4X4 owners who would like to explore the Sani Pass and Lesotho. Trips up the Pass can be arranged for guests without 4X4 vehicles. Guests can enjoy trout and bass fishing on one of the farm's dams or trout fishing in nearby dams and rivers.
The mountain bike enthusiast will find plenty of exciting routes in the Himeville area. Families with children can experience country living at its best at Ripon Country Cottage; feeding geese and chickens, collecting eggs and walking amongst the cattle and calves. Birders can expect to see Lammergeyer, Cape Vulture and Stanley's Bustards.
A Cherry Planting Programme began in 1997, 500 trees were planted under shade net. This has since expanded to over 2500 trees, approximately 1.8 ha. under shade netting. The Southern Drakensberg's cold and severe winters are ideal for stone fruit production and the first harvest is expected in November 2001. The cherry trees blossom in September and should be a wonderful sight.
