The northern part of the Giant's Castle game reserve, part of the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park is known as Injisuthi. It's a hutted camp area cradled between the Injisuthi and Cowl Fork rivers at the tip of the Injisuthi Valley.
Surrounded by glorious scenery Injisuthi is dominated by Monk's Cowl, Cathkin Peak and Champagne Castle. Injisuthi is an inner axle to the variety of hiking trails that lead across the mountains.
North of the camp is a unique uncultivated and isolated mountain wilderness exclusive of any direct human interference. Three Caves are available to hikers who wish to overnight. For those eager to do the longer, more challenging mountain trails, huts are available as overnight stops.
The accommodation at Injisuthi Camp consists of:
There are 15 fully outfitted self-contained four-bed cabins at Injisuthi camp, each with two bedrooms, toilet, bathroom, lounge/dining room and fully functional kitchen with a fridge and a stove. The chalets do not have any plug points, although there is electric lighting available when needed. In addition to the chalets, Injisuthi Camp also has a dormitory cabin, which sleeps 8.
Fireplaces and barbecue facilities are present in each unit. Camping facilities are also available for guests. Injisuthi will soon also be hosting a coffee bar and lounge with DSTV.
Injisuthi's un-crowded campsites can accommodate approximately 120 people at once. There are common taps and barbecues at the campsites and firewood is also available for sale. There are two ablution blocks each with hot and cold water, showers, a bath, flush toilets and dish washing facilities.
