Ballito Microlight School

Ballito Microlight School was established in 1997 to handle distribution and sales of the Aquilla Trike as well as to operate a FULL TIME TRAINING facility at Ballito Bay. The School is less than 30 minutes drive North of Durban, and only 5 minutes drive from the golden beaches of Ballito Bay on the Dolphin Coast. The area offers excellent weather all year round, suitable for flight training and is set amongst rolling sugar cane estates with Bed & Breakfast accommodation available.

Ballito Microlight School is run professionally by Full Time A Grade Instructors (Class 1), who are dedicated to providing safe and fun training in a friendly atmosphere at affordable prices. (Over 10 000 Hrs Flying Experience!!!!)

Training Courses are tailor made to suit individual needs. You may prefer to train over an extended period, or enroll for an intensive full time course (10 - 14 days). The syllabus has been formulated by the Microlight section of the Aero Club of South Africa and approved by the Commissioner of Civil Aviation. Our training courses run 7 days a week and the most Advanced and Modern Equipment is used to Ensure Your Safety. Training in your home town is also an option. Our course includes all requirements by CAA, a tour of Durban International Air Traffic Control Centre and a factory tour of Solo Wings the manufacturer of the Aquilla Trike.

Licence Requirements

S.P.L (Student Pilots Licence)

17 Years of Age.

Aviation Medical Examination.

MISASA & Aero Club Membership.

M.P.L (Microlight Pilots Licence)

17 Years of Age.

Students Pilots Licence.

Minimum 5 Hrs Dual Instruction.

Minimum 15 Hrs Solo Instruction.

Three Navigation Exercises.

Restricted Radio Licence.

Theory Exams. (Engines & Airframes, Navigation, Meterology, Air Law & Principles Of Flight.)
