Trout Bagger Farm is situated close to Nottingham Road, 400km from Johannesburg & 140km from Durban with good roads to the farm.
Fishing at Troutbagger
Four stillwaters between 1ha and 1.5ha in size are available to the fly angler. Three are stocked quarterly with rainbow and brown trout of up to 2kg from the farm's own stock dam. One stillwater is available for bass angling. Float tubes are permitted. All fishing is within walking distance from the accommodation, one trout dam is situated 5mts in front of the cottage.
Guests have three styles of accommodation available to them:
A three bedroom cottage, 5mts from the biggest trout dam. This cottage sleeps up to seven people. The cottage is fully equipped, including a fireplace, electric blankets, heaters, outside braai facilities and a gas braai.
A two bedroom cottage, about 150mts from the dams. Sleeps up to four people. The cottage is fully equipped, including a fireplace, electric blankets and an outside braai facility.
Two bedsitter units, overlooking one of the trout dams, each consisting of a double bed, kitchenette and bathroom. Limited DSTV available. Rooms have under-floor heating, electric blankets and heaters. A braai facility is available outside
Our accommodation is all self-catering. Servicing of the units is an optional extra.
A rod fee of R150 per angler per day is charged for guests. Day anglers are welcome at a fee of R200 per angler per day (based on Catch & Release.) CAR (catch & release) is encouraged, however, kept fish are charged at R100/kg (1-2kg fish) and R200/kg (2-5kg fish). The biggest fish caught to date has been a 6.5kg rainbow and a 4.2kg brown trout. Fly rods (3/4-wt and 5/6-wt) can be hired at a fee of R80/day, including reel, lines and landing net. Flies are sold at R12 for three (operates on an honesty box in the cottage). A guide is available for coaching at a fee of R250 per 2hr session.
