Self Catering Cottages

Ridgedale Trout Farm is 10km from the village of Underberg in the Southern Drakensberg and just 30km from Sani Pass. We have a beautiful waterfall known as "The White Lady" entering into our dam which is stocked with rainbow and brown trout. A large thatched deck area overlooks the waterfall and dam where you can enjoy sundowners.

Otter's Den is truly a home away from home. This thatched 3 bedroom house has a modern and chic interior and all three bedrooms are en-suite. The main bedroom has a queen size bed and a bath. The other two bedrooms have twin beds and showers. The kitchen comes fully equipped with gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine & tumble dryer combo, fridge & freezer. The lounge is beautifully decorated and has a TV, DVD and DSTV and leads out onto a covered wooden deck where you can enjoy a braai in the Weber. This cottage is serviced daily and is fully equipped with linen. Otter's Den is also fully fitted with underfloor heating to take away that winter chill.

These cottages are on the other side of the trout dam with no vehicle access. Park your car and walk across the bridge over the waterfall and follow the wooden walkways to your cottage.

This is a very rustic little cottage and ideal for fishermen and other large groups who just need a place to crash. Can sleep 8 singles. 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, kitchen with microwave, fridge & 2 plate stove/oven, dining room, braai. 2 of the bedrooms are outside with their own entrances and bathrooms.

In the Area:

Sani Pass trip:

R420 per person (passports essentials) in closed 4 x 4 vehicles with Major Adventures. Also bring very warm clothing (jackets, gloves, beanies & scarves) Even in summer it can be a bit chilly up there. The trip starts at the Underberg Inn @ 09h00 and includes a guided tour of a living Basutho village in Lesotho. Lunch (for your own account) is had at the Highest Pub in Africa at Sani Top Chalet. You should get back to the Underberg Inn at about 16h00.

Tube Rides:

Enjoy a leisurely or exciting ride down the river on a tractor tube. The speed at which you travel depends on when last it rained up in the mountains. This is only in the summer.

Hiking:

If you drive down to Drakensberg Gardens Resort and go through the gates to Garden Castle Reserve, they will give you maps of various hikes you can go on.
