The Umlalazi Nature Reserve is a coastal reserve situated 1 km from Mtunzini on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast. Indulge in the amazing sights and sounds of The Umlalazi Nature reserve. This resort is renowned for its extraordinary attractions, one being the conventional sightings of the rare palm-nut vulture and secondly being the captivating raffia palm monument. The raffia is classified as being the world’s largest palm.
This tranquil coastal resort is ideally located in the dunes and dense coastal grasslands on the fringes of Mtunzini. Main activities at the reserve include water-skiing, canoeing and boating; these activities can provide great enjoyment for the entire family. Such water sports take place on the Umlalazi River. Fisherman can take pleasure in fishing at the beautiful lagoon as it is highly recommend at the reserve. The delightful beaches are exceptional for water sports such as swimming, windsurfing and angling. An alternative to these exhilarating sports, guests could simply relax by taking walks along the stunning shores. The exquisite Umlalazi River invites many birdlife species to the area.
Accommodation at Umlalazi Camp consists of:
15 x five-bed log cabins situated overlooking the plush coastal dune forest. All log cabins comprise of 2 bedrooms, a combined lounge and dinning area, a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, verandas and barbecue feature. These superb units are all well equipped with DSTV facilities that are available for the convenience of the guests.
The spacious campsites take tents and/or caravans and share cold water facilities, communal plug points and barbecue areas. The ablutions consist of hot and cold running water, showers, baths, toilets, dish washing features as well as coin operated laundry machines. Other amenities include crystal blue swimming pools.
A delightful curio shop is available providing guests with an abundance of local crafts that are for sale. With the necessary arrangements being made visitors can indulge in an extravagant beach braai that is combined with an exciting barge cruise on the Umlalazi River.
