Only 30 minutes from Durban or Pietermaritzburg in the much cooler air of “the Hills” Proctors Guest House can offer you magnificent scenery, comfortable and cosy accommodation, great Breakfasts on the Stoep (option of evening meals) service and hospitality.

If you arrive nice and early you can unpack and enjoy a favourite sundowner as the sun begins to dip over the distant hills of Maritzburg towards the Berg leaving dark shadows over the hills and a wonderful red hue in the sky. You will immediately be at peace with the World.

Once dark the quietness of the night will be offset by a clear and starry night made even more spectacular by the moon shining on the hills and lighting up the Valleys below. It is difficult to decide to leave this to go out for a dinner in one of Hillcrest’s many different Restaurants. On your return you may find it difficult to sleep so silent is the night.

By morning grab a cup of coffee/tea and see either the clarity and coolness of the early morning sun shining deep into the valleys way below you or in winter marvel at the low thick clouds hiding the valley’s and allowing the sun to glisten on the hilltops.

In winter you can clearly see the snow on the Berg almost 200 kilometres away from our garden.
