This charming guesthouse is set back from the road in Durban's tree-lined Berea, and offers you a homely environment conducive to restful days and peaceful evenings.

Large windows and sliding-doors face onto the pool area and tropical garden, imbuing the interior with lots of light and a sense of peace. Guests can relax in the private lounge, equipped with DSTV and video facilities, and enjoy their meals in the informal dining-room.

The eleven spacious bedrooms are all fully air-conditioned and en-suite (five with baths and six with showers). Single, double and family rooms are available, all of which are equipped with bar fridges and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Four of the rooms are fully equipped for self-catering and have microwave ovens. Each room has an electronic safe, providing security for your valuables. Cotton linen and wooden floors contribute to the sense of homely charm prevailing throughout Silver Oaks.

Staying connected to the rest of the world is effortless, as all rooms have television with M-Net and DSTV, as well as telephones and Internet access.

Children under the age of twelve stay for free when sharing, and a camping cot is available for babies upon request.

DINING:

Guests are treated to a wholesome buffet breakfast every morning. Meals may be enjoyed in our cosy dining-room or on the patio, both of which overlook the pool and garden.

Easy access to the freeway and close proximity to the airport make this a central venue, suitable for a business stopover or carefree family getaway. The International Convention Centre is only 4 km away, which makes Silver Oaks an ideal base for conference delegates.

The guesthouse is situated within walking distance of the upmarket Musgrave Centre, which offers cinemas, restaurants and a wide variety of clothing and gift stores.

Nearby attractions include Marine Parade and Durban Beachfront (4km away), the Japanese Gardens (5km away) and the Botanical Gardens (2km away). For a close-up view of the creatures that inhabit our waters, visit the Oceanarium (7km away); if you're an avid birdwatcher, then head to Umgeni Bird Park (8km away). Durban is renowned for its numerous and varied water activities, such as surfing, shark cage diving and marine safaris.
