Miniature golf is a sport that transcends generations, and you don’t even have to be a good golfer to take part in it. Just a solid putting stroke will take you far in this game, and perhaps even win you a few wagers from family and friends. Nowadays, indoor miniature golf has also become quite popular.
All in all, miniature golf is an exciting sport, and is also referred to as mini-golf, adventure golf or crazy golf. Others know miniature golf as ‘putt-putt’, with the only difference between these names occurring in the length of the courses. Putt-putt is seen as the shorter version (9 – 18 holes) of the already ‘short’ miniature version (18-36 holes). Remember that miniature golf is not normal golf, and a good score in miniature won’t make you a good golfer automatically. It’s true, miniature golf is by no means good preparation for a game of name golf, since the miniature version only offers a single element in the game of golf, namely putting. Miniature golf courses only consist of a putting surface, which includes the arrangement of obstacles, ramps and bunkers, making the game very challenging as you line up your putt.
The Indoor Miniature Golf Centre in Durban is an air-conditioned 36-hole mini-golf course that offers the sternest of tests. The undulating greens and numerous ‘blind shots’ will give you more than one headache through your round. Just remember to keep your eye on the ball and hit a smooth stroke. Soon enough you’ll see your ball drop, hopefully for a hole-in-one!
